Shoutbox is a lot better.
I've always liked the design of Chatango, since it had user avatars instead of just colored names, but I guess we can give Shoutbox a shot. Many anime-themed websites use Chatango these days.
Any shoutbox, chatbox or chat room has the chance of attracting trolls, just like any forum can attract spam.
I agree that Chatango or other third party chatboxes that aren't intergrated into the forums shouldn't be used. I'll see if I can find chat software that allows use of custom/forum avatars.
I know any chat can attract trolls, but 3rd party chats attract even MORE since they are not using a forum login.

They're like chatango, except you need to login to use it.
By login I mean login into your forum account.
So yeah, if we do use it, I'll make a forum guide on how to use the chatbox.
To keep trolls to a minimum (though they are always unavoidable), we will use a MyBB chat plugin. This way, you have to use your forum login in order to chat/access it, instead of signing up again.
A guide would be nice, Defy. TB or I can make the rules.
A chatbox which requires forum login information? I learn something everyday. I think it'd be a good idea, but that's my opinion.
So will the normal forums mods moderate the chat?
I looked up on google, and, myBB does have a chat plugin. It's like MSN.
