As there are mixed opinions of the Shoutbox, but enough positive feedback to at least try the idea, an one week Shoutbox trial on the forums will be made. Staff will be analyzing whether or not forum activity is altered drastically, if the Shoutbox is a positive experience for most members, if the Shoutbox brings in new members to the forums, and other factors regarding the Shoutbox.

Some rules have been made already. If the Shoutbox becomes a permanent feature, these rules will still be regulated.

The Shoutbox requires a forum login in order to use it. A ten post requirement has been made to prevent brand new members from accessing the Shoutbox, but this may be subject to change. (Maybe 20 posts or one day of online activity instead?)

If there will be a permanent Shoutbox, separate Chat moderators will be assisting the Forum Staff in moderating the Shoutbox. These moderators will not have Forum powers. Staff will choose the moderators. We already have some in mind .

Please post feedback about the Shoutbox. If there are any glitches or problems, let us know. If the Shoutbox is not productive and beneficial overall, the trial will be closed and no Shoutbox will be on the forums.

I have a really bad feeling about this. I just.. don't like it, simply put. It just seems to get everyone addicted to the chat and not actually care about the forums, also it seems that I just get even more ignored on there. I also see the possibility of advertisers and spammers using it for bad reasons. I really don't think there should be a chatbox.

I dig it so far, but it's still a bit early to say. It'd be fun to chat with a bunch of people all at the same time though

I gave it a try just now. It'll be a bit confusing at first, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. This'll make talking with multiple members easier, so as long as it doesn't take attention away from the forums, I approve. Btw, 101'st important post for the win.

I didn't like how it just shows 10 messages, but I guess that's fine coz it stretches with the addition of pictures and youtube.

How about making the input box wider or auto-adjusting to the window width?
